Fine Leather "Slouchy" Drifter Handbag

The daughter of a good friend of mine deals in vintage clothing and accessories. The first one out of our workshop will go to my buddy, Holly, in North Carolina, to reward her keen eye for classic design."

The vintage bag was born in the 1960’s before the advent of smart phones and the like;the design has been updated by adding two pockets on the outside front. Its relaxed, classy style takes you from shopping to dinner with confidence.

You could probably think of a hundred uses for this small leather pouch. It's a perfect little pouch to toss into your handbag or briefcase for cosmetics, keys, change, mints, stamps, nail file, jewelry, etc. I've gotten you started, so it's up to you to think of the other 93 ways to use it. Made in the Colonel's artisan leather shop of a buttery soft, dry milled leather in a rich tobacco brown, our edge-stitched journal holds forty-eight 4" x 6" photos in vinyl sleeves secured through the spine with brass rivets. I'm not sure how far back the original drawstring pouch goes, but I do know that in the 1800's you would be hard pressed to find a traveler without one. From my days as a Boy Scout, I have lived by the motto, "Be prepared." You can pack enough essentials in these bags to prepare for most any contingency.

This is probably the best-feeling leather tote/handbag you'll ever carry. We start with native American steer hide, which we have vegetable tanned in a small Tennessee tannery. Then comes the good part . . . the leather is tumbled in half-a-century-old wooden barrels to achieve its incredibly soft and supple feel which only gets better with time. Brown with antique brass magnetic snap closure. Inside cotton canvas zippered pocket and leather loop for attaching keys. 12" H x 12" W x 4" D with a 13" edge-stitched strap.
