Ciao Bella! is a specialty brick and mortar store in northwest
Michigan with a rare collection of fine products which we hope will
enrich your life. Scarcely does a day go by that shoppers do not
comment on
Ciao Bella! being “…my favorite place to
shop”, or“….the most wonderful store”; one of the best compliments
being.... “ I just can’t find these things at other stores!”.

Garden & Home is
located in the heart of the historic Gaslight District of Petoskey,
Michigan on Lake Michigan's Little Traverse Bay just 30 minutes south
of Mackinac Island. Ernest Hemingway opined that "[Little Traverse
Bay] is the best of the north countries". Please visit our store when
enjoying our special community.
For thirty five years, my wife and our design principal, Diane Bell,
has been engaged in the business of resourcing beautiful, unique
products and in providing distinctive interior design both contract and
residential. With undergraduate and graduate degrees in fine art and
design, and a passionate interest in the arts, it was a natural
direction to share these interests with the community. Our business
was formed in 1986, which has taken us on a journey to better
appreciate the beauty and mystery of fine art in its many forms and to
share these interests and exceptional products with the public.
Our initial fine art business, in addition to design, was grounded in
historic Native American art and artifacts, Inuit sculpture and
original paintings. The business grew into a thriving fine art gallery
(residential and commercial art and design) providing fine art and
design consultation for a large client base in the mid-south including,
but not limited to, Kraft Corporation, International Paper, Enterprise
Bank, St. Jude Hospital, Baptist Hospital, Helena Chemical, Promus (ex
Holiday Inns) Corporation and many others including private residential
projects both in Europe and the US. In 1991 we expanded into a new
facility, opened a fine art gallery in downtown Harbor Springs and
created another brick and mortar location in Birmingham, Michigan.
Over the years we discovered that fine art, fine antiques and quality
products are well appreciated. Ciao Bella! Design has been fortunate
to provide residental design services both abroad in Europe and through
out the United States.
We listened to our customers who seek expanded
shopping experiences. In 2005 we opened our specialty store in a
historic building, c. 1870’s, in Petoskey, Michigan.
In response to our clients' keen interest in specialty products, and
with an appreciation for a focus on a wide selection of items for the
home and garden available under one roof, we have received exceptional
reviews. More than anything, the brick and mortar store was and remains
a “shopping experience” with plenty of opportunities for all shoppers.
We are now, through our web site, able to bring these life style
products and this ambience via the internet to all of you throughout
